How to choose the right Shopify plan for a UK business

Most new UK businesses should start on Shopify Basic (£25 a month, or £19 on yearly billing). Move to Grow (£65, or £49 yearly) when lower card fees outweigh the higher price or you need more staff accounts, and consider Advanced (£344, or £259 yearly) only at high sales volumes or for its specific features.

Quick summary

  • Basic suits most new stores.
  • Grow pays for itself at around £10,000 to £13,300 a month in online sales.
  • Advanced is for high volume, 15 staff or custom reports.

Compare the plans

The main differences are price, online card fees (2%, 1.7% and 1.5% + 25p with Shopify Payments), staff accounts and reporting. Compare Basic and Grow and Grow and Advanced.

Monthly or yearly billing

Yearly billing is about 25% cheaper but paid upfront. Start monthly while you test, then switch to yearly once you're confident.

When to consider Shopify Plus

Plus starts from around £1,800 a month and suits high-volume brands needing B2B, checkout customisation or several stores. Compare with Plus.
