How to connect your domain and business email to Shopify
You can buy a domain through Shopify, or connect one you already own by pointing its A record to Shopify's IP address and its www CNAME to shops.myshopify.com. Shopify doesn't host email inboxes, so use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for a business email address such as hello@yourbrand.co.uk.

Quick summary
- Buy through Shopify for the simplest setup.
- Or connect a domain from another registrar with DNS records.
- Use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for business email.
Connect an existing domain
- In Shopify, go to Settings, then Domains, and choose Connect existing domain.
- At your domain registrar, set the A record to 23.227.38.65.
- Set the www CNAME record to shops.myshopify.com.
- Wait for DNS to update, then verify in Shopify and set your primary domain.
Business email
Shopify can forward email for domains bought through Shopify, but for a proper inbox use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Add their MX records at your registrar without changing Shopify's records.
Email authentication
Authenticate your domain in Shopify's notification settings so order emails come from your domain and don't land in spam.
Choosing a domain
Keep it short and easy to spell. UK shoppers trust .co.uk and .uk, and it's worth registering the .com too.
